Stanza adds 40,000 titles

Stanza, a free book-reading app at the App Store, has added access to over 40,000 titles from Fictionwise. An agreement between Stanza creator Lexcycle and the eReader format backer was announced today, and will provide a Fictionwise Store within Stanza's Online Catalog. Purchases can be made within the app, and support resumed downloads. Past purchases are available on a bookshelf.

When browsing by title, author, genre or popularity in Stanza's catalog, picking a book brings up a listing with its category and an extended description. At the bottom of a preview are listings for other books by the author, titles purchased by other shoppers, and reviews of the book from LibraryThing, along with the Buy Now at Fictionwise option.

Some books now available for Stanza users include titles by Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson and Nora Roberts. Access to the Fictionwise catalog is currently active; Stanza is at v1.6 on the App Store, and works with both the iPhone and the iPod touch.
