iTunes Store hit with outages, slow speeds

A number of users have been experiencing outages or unusually slow speeds while trying to access the iTunes Store on Thursday, anecdotes indicate. The troubles are believed to have begun around morning Eastern time, and those that have been able to access the Store have cited delays in trying to reach different sections, including the App Store. In at least some cases, images have appeared broken on the site.

Apple has yet to offer an official explanation for network difficulties, but as of this writing services at the iTunes Store appear to be resuming normal operation. Problems are unlikely to have triggered by a rush of holiday sales, as Apple has otherwise had no trouble coping with demand this season, even during Black Friday.

Interesting. I was trying to purchase a Photo book from iPhoto last night, and it kept timing out. I know it wasn't my internet connection, because other sites loaded fine. So something was definitely up (or down).

I noticed slow downs at the store last evening as well probably around 8-9 CST when it was literally taking minutes to download three to five individual songs.

"Morning, Eastern Time"

If you're going to provide such a fuzzy time as "morning," I don't really think the "Eastern Time" qualifier is necessary. Maybe that's just me, though.

What does iTunes issues have to do with Paul McCartney? Is Apple Corps behind this???

Sorry, but since Apple "migrated" from nearly faultless Foundry hardware to a "doesn't work every single time you update an ACL" these things will happen.
