I Love Katamari for iPhone

Namco has debuted I Love Katamari , an action game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Players must replace stars that have been accidentally knocked out of the sky by the King of All Cosmos; equipped with a katamari ball, users tilt their handheld to roll up various objects and increase the size of the ball, which in turn allows for larger items to be added. The game features several different modes, including story, time attack, exact-size challenge and external modes, the last of which lets players roll at their own pace without time or size limits.

At the start of the game, the position of an iPhone or iPod is used to calibrate the accelerometer for the katamari's movement. Due to its importance, the setting can be re-calibrated at any time by touching the katamari. I Love Katamari is being sold at the App Store for $8.

    wait for an update.

being a huge Katamari Damacy fan, i was thrilled to see this released and bought it right away. wish there were more reviews at the time. this game, in its current state, is a major disappointment. as the katamari grows, the frame rate drops so significantly the game becomes almost unplayable. to make matters worse, you’ll find yourself tipping the iPhone/iPod Touch more and more just to get anything to move…it appears the accellerometer controls go increasingly out of calibration. you can squeeze out a few more frames per second by putting your iPhone in “airplane mode”, but Namco Bandai really needs to address these serious issues. hopefully some updates are on the way.
