Bit Maki Software has released Textcast, an application that allows the transformation of text documents, webpages, or blog feeds into audio files that can be played on an iPhone or iPod. Offering customizable voices, including a default of Mac OS X Leopard’s latest Alex voice, Textcast sends all spoken-word audio files to iTunes for sync purposes.

Some specific functions include the ability to copy text from Safari, drag-and-drop feeds out of NetNewsWire, and run AppleScripts to simplify the conversion process. Textcast is priced at $25, and designed exclusively for Mac OS X Leopard.
