4th-gen OrbLive 2.0 adds live recording, text search
Orb Networks has announced the fourth generation of its media application for the iPhone and iPod touch, OrbLive 2.0. The update adds the ability to record live media, allowing users to store live TV or Internet content. Text search now allows an easier way to find shows or stations, while new options have been included for managing favorites. Users can take advantage of playback enhancements to navigate inside any file, or use a zoom-in function to get a closer look at particular content.
OrbLive can be used to access any media from a home computer, including music, images, video and webcams. Live TV can also be viewed if the home system integrates a TV tuner.
OrbLive 2.0 is available from the App Store for $10, while a free version is available but limited to playing three random titles from each media type. The service currently requires a PC, although the company is working on adding support for Linux and Mac platforms.
