iPod pavilion at CES

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced the iLounge Pavilion, a unified iPod and iPhone section for the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. The pavilion is co-sponsored by CES and iLounge.com, which originally called for a space at CES for iPod and iPhone vendors, and will feature a special exhibition area for both the manufacturers and retailers of iPod- and iPhone-related products.

Karen Chupka -- the CEA senior vice president for events and conferences -- notes that the announcement means space has been established, and a waiting list for is now open for iPod and iPhone businesses interested in CES.

The move likely puts increased pressure on the existence of Macworld 2010, as many of the vendors involved in the pavilion may be likely to abandon Macworld in favor of concentrating resources. Further complicating Macworld's struggles are rumors that Apple itself may be planning to present at CES 2010.

2009's CES featured exhibitions from 2,700 technology companies, including 300 first-time exhibitors. The 2010 event is scheduled for January 7th to the 10th at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada.
