Cocktails+ 1.5 update

Skorpiostech has released the latest version of its drink recipe app for the iPhone and iPod touch, Cocktails+ 1.5. The app is said to contain over 2,000 mixed drink recipes, with detailed ingredient descriptions. The update adds a "Contemporary Masters" tab, containing recipes from Dale DeGroff and Goncalo De Souza Monteiro. The update also includes a new icon, definitions and substitution information for ingredients, new metric display options, and the ability to dismiss the keyboard when browsing search results by tapping the search button.

Version 1.5 lastly comes with added recipes requested by users, as well as bug fixes. Other features of Cocktails+ allow users to share recipes with friends via e-mail or Twitter, and view categories based on drink type, base spirit, and flavor. In case users want to keep track of specific recipes, the program also lets them mark favorite drinks.

The update is free to existing Cocktails+ owners, and priced at $10 for new customers.

    yes

because friends are always sharing mixed-drink recipes.

And I wonder if Apple has some age-limit checks on this app to keep it out of the hands of the children. I mean, they could buy this, read what appears to be tasty recipes, and then decide drinking is 'cool' and end up a bunch of drunkard teenagers, something that would never happen otherwise...

Wow, now that I say this, I can't wait for the first lawsuit against Apple (I mean, come on, you wouldn't sue the software maker, they don't have Apple's pockets!) for this...

    huh?

    What are you? A mormon?

It's not illegal for a minor to go into a liquor store (just can't buy alcohol; but can buy other things, like ice), or to go into the beer & wine section of the grocery store, or buy a real actual paper book drink recipes, or check out the same book at the library (if they offer such books), or have a 'drinks' section on many cooking sites. So why on earth would it be illegal to sell a simple database software that features the same thing: drink recipes?

Now, charging $10, on the other hand...

To the developers: please keep it simple! More features doesn't necessarily mean it's better. A list of recipes with good search is the reason I use this app.

BTW, can we please permaban Testudo? I don't remember the last time he made a constructive comment.

    Re:

Constructive comment? On MacNN or its siblings? No one has constructive comments on these pages. Are you saying 'trevj's is constructive? Or Guests? What of the idiots who always post "What's a Zune?" or other anti-Zune comments on any Zune story. Or the same-old same-old comments "If it doesn't run Mac OS X...." when an article about a new computer appears.

95% of the postings on these sites basically comes down to the mac-faithful spinning all stories pro-mac and anti-MS/everyone else, mainly still living in the 90s where they feel they still need to defend everything Mac as if it were a personnel affront if something were said negatively, and those spinning them the other way.

If anything, at least testudo's not on the "OMG, how dare someone write something negative about apple! They are such idiots!", let alone bemoaning the fact that if investors knew what they were doing, apple stock would be worth 5 times what it sells for now.

Its like reading a Fox News Channel site. "Fair and unbalanced" commentary, assuming you consider the balancing point underneath 1 infinite loop.
