iPhone apps: iShred, Grand Lite, Wide Email

iShred ($5) is an electric guitar application fro the iPhone and iPod touch that includes an amp simulator and eight effects pedals. Users can choose up to four effects at a time to customize their guitars tone and then save the settings as presets to be used again later. After customizing their tone players can begin creating a song using the onscreen fretboard and the applications recording capabilities.Grand Lite (free) allows piano players to play and learn the music directly on their iPhone or iPod touch. The piano simulator includes six octaves of audio samples, optional key labels, a left-handed mode and support for playing key slides up and down the piano. The piano also features multi-touch support and allows users to play chords with up to five separate fingers.
Wide Email ($1) offers users a wider horizontal-landscape keyboard for writing e-mails on their iPhone or iPod touch. The application also allows users to define typing shortcuts. This allows users to type with abbreviations and the application will then expand each into full words. Wide Email also allows users to write tweets with a landscape keyboard and then post them through Twitterific.
AccelaRuler ($1) is ruler application that uses the accelerometer for measuring. The application measures distance by using data recorded by the iPhone's built in accelerometer. Distances ranging from a few inches to over 15 can be recorded and the developers claim that measurements are accurate up to 2% of the actual distance. The application can also covert distances between inches, feet and meters.
DebtTracker ($4) is an application that can help users keep track of their credit accounts. One can enter their payment due dates for each of their credit accounts and then have the application display reminders when payments are due. The application also allows users to enter how much debt is related to each account and then track the percentage that has been paid off.
