Cute Origami, Flash Notes

  • DaVita GFR Calculator ($1) measures kidney function by using a patient's age, serum creatinine level, gender and race. These variables are placed into the MDRD4 (Modification of Diet in Renal Disease) revised equation, which determines glomerular filtration rate. This figure is said to be considered the best measure of kidney function by nephrologists and other kidney professionals. The app additionally allows someone to search for nephrologists, educational websites and the toll-free DaVita phone number.

  • iCamera ($2) lets users add frame effects to images within their Photo Library. The application includes over 30 different photo frames, which can be added to existing pictures or freshly captured ones. Edited images can be saved in the Photo Library, and shared with others via e-mail.

  • RepairPal: Auto Repair Expert (free) provides useful information in the event of a roadside breakdown, or simply general car problems. The app can calculate an estimate for the needed repairs, then locate a nearby mechanic and provide directions and a phone number. The software can also locate tow truck companies, and provide one-touch access to most auto manufacturer helplines.

  • Cute Origami ($3) includes 12 demonstration videos intended to show how to complete different origami creations. Some of the included designs are a crane, mouse, sailboat, maple leaf and a dog. The title is designed to guide users step-by-step through folding, and incorporates a number of visuals that complement the videos.

  • Flash Notes ($2) is a tool that helps new musicians learn to read notation. Users can choose to practice notes from the treble clef, the bass clef, or both simultaneously. After settings have been selected, the app displays a series of flash cards with notes; users can see the name of each by tapping on them. Each note also includes an associated piano sound, which aids in learning pitch recognition by ear.
