doubleTwist beta for Mac
doubleTwist has released a public beta of its media synchronization and sharing application for the Mac platform. The program intends to eliminate DRM restrictions, with sync support for content from digital cameras, MP3 players or PSPs, among other devices. The media can then be played or published to YouTube, Facebook or Flickr. Users can also send the files to their friends.
The startup is run by Monique Farantzos and Jon Lech Johansen, who is better known for his DeCSS routine that bypassed DVD encryption. The program can be used with protected devices such as the iPhone and iPod, although the connectivity is limited to the PC version which is still in private beta.
The public beta requires Mac OS X 10.5 and can be downloaded for free. The public beta for Windows is expected sometime in the near future.
