iPhone apps: Xumii, 2000+ Sounds, Shoot-Em-Up

  • Xumii (free) is an all-in-one instant message client that features support for MSN, AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and more. The application also allows users to view status updates for a users contacts on various social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Within Xumii users will also find options for viewing and sharing photos along with information on the latest Tech & Science news.

  • 2000+ Sounds ($1) features over 2000 sounds that can be looped, delayed, randomized or set as favorites for later access. All of the sounds have been recorded in high quality and broken down into categories. The application also features a search bar for helping users sort through the large list of audio clips.

  • Shoot-Em-Up ($1) lets users relive the experience of an old-school arcade action game on their iPhone or iPod touch. The game is a vertical scrolling shooter where players must fend off waves of alien UFO's, ground-based weapon emplacements, tanks and more. The game features several different enemies, two skill levels and uses a virtual joystick for maneuvering the ship.

  • Oort Storm: FS5 ($3) is a game where players must save the Earth from an onslaught of asteroids, mines, and other space debris. Players must make their way through 9 levels to save the world using their shield, 3-way fire, Pulse Bombs and AutoChron tools to prevent the end of the world. The game utilizes all of the iPhone capabilities including accelerometer support, 3D positional audio, and OpenGL accelerated graphics.

  • Converted ($3) is a unit conversion application that features a custom slide-in numeric keypad that features large buttons. Users can covert between a large list of values and set up favorite conversions for quick access. The application includes conversions for things like weight, speed, volume and currency, for which conversion rates are automatically updated.
