Apple has won four International Forum Design (iF) gold awards at the CeBIT computer expo held in Hannover, Germany, according to setteB.IT. The second-generation iPod touch, fourth-generation iPod nano, iPhone 3G and MacBook Air were among the 50 products considered worthy of the gold award, while an in-ear headset accessory for the iPhone was included in the overall group of design awards.
"The 'iPod touch' represents a further example of a special category of 'must have' product," read the judge's impression of the Touch, while the Nano was the second item in the digital music player category. "The design is so esthetic, so user-friendly, so eye-catching: Anyone who has never owned an MP3 player will think twice after seeing the iPod nano."
The judges expressed similar delight with the iPhone 3G. "Twice the speed in 3G networks, a minimalist refinement and incorporation of the previous features - what can you say about the epitome of mobile communication and the icon of the 21st century except: 'Superb'!"
"Apple is and remains the leader in its sector. This company continues to succeed in showing us how simple, intuitively usable and attractive a computer can be,” read the notes regarding the MacBook Air.
The company also received top honors at the 2008 show for the previous-generation iPod nano, iPod touch and iPhone, along with the iPod classic, Bluetooth Headset, Keyboard, Wireless Keyboard and iMac.
