iPod VoiceOver speaks

Apple has made significant changes in its latest third-generation iPod shuffle, one of them being the addition of its VoiceOver function. The new feature enables the Shuffle to speak the names of a song and artist, and pronounce them in one of 14 different languages. In order to make this work, iTunes integrates with the iPod, reads the song information, and uses the VoiceOver Kit to generate the pronunciations. Because of the player's design, users will receive a different voice depending on what computer is used when syncing.

The technology also makes it possible to have multiple playlists, by announcing playlist names during selection. The multi-language support, meanwhile, is used select the language and best voice for each of a user's song titles. For people who want to listen to titles in a language different from the one suggested, the designated VoiceOver language can be changed within iTunes.

Languages offered include: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Italian, Portugese, Japanese, Turkish, Spanish, German, Czech, Dutch, Greek, Polish, Swedish and English.

    how

This is a bit confusing and apple's site isnt too clear on how this works. If I have a spanish song title and I'm using the english settings for OS X, will it pronounce it in Spanish?

    Spanish song

Yes, although you can change it manually. It's all there in the article and on Apple's website.

    Not NEW

How come no Mac news site deems it worth to mention that this is NOT new, that this is NOT the "first music player that talks to you", but that the iPod nano can announce artists and playlist titles for about half a year now?
