Undercover for iPhone

Developer Orbicule has released an iPhone version of Undercover, its formerly Mac-only security software. The app is used to track a lost or stolen iPhone using a GPS signal when outdoors, or simply Wi-Fi or cellular triangulation when indoors. iPod touches can also take advantage of location functions, but are naturally limited to Wi-Fi.

The software is effectively a trap, masquerading as a game if launched from a handheld. While pretending to load, Undercover transmits the most precise location data it can gather to an associated website, where a genuine owner can log in and discover the last known location of their hardware. If a phone is thought to be lost, rather than stolen, a message can be set to open the moment Undercover is launched.

Undercover is a $5 download from the iTunes App Store.
