Wow! After Pandora, and a Netflix streaming app for iPhone, this is the media app I've been wanting longer than any other. It'd be great to be able to kill an hour's delay in an airport with Hulu.

Is it more likely that this app will be approved (which would rule) or is it more likely that it will be blocked by AT&T as the Slingplayer mobile app for iPhone is rumored to have been?

Even if this can be made WiFi only it'd be really nice.

I'm so glad I bought an iPod Touch. I'm happier every time I read about all the new apps available now, and the many new capabilities yet to come. It has become the newfound Holy Grail - the star trek "communicator".

I hope the app will be free.

I'm really curious to see if this circumvents accessing Hulu from abroad for those of us with US iTunes accounts because we are US citizens. I count every day as a blessing that I can still buy US content via the iTMS even when I'm not actually IN the US.

It is completely aggravating to lose access on the internet to content because I changed too many time zones, as is the case if I try to log into Hulu from a wifi access point abroad without some sort of cloaking app and/or proxy (which are an ENORMOUS pain, usually slowly things down so badly, they render any audio or video unwatchable). Heck, I'm still ME, and I carry my citizenship with ME and I intend to consume the media MYSELF. Why does online content have to kowtow to these artificial borders being imposed on the 'net?

Like I said, thank goodness the iTMS doesn't do this, and here's hoping a hulu app rides through the iTMS/App Store for its streaming, not whatever ISP of the day you happen to be using.

Of course it will have country checking. It isn't connecting via iTunes, but its own app. Hulu can tell from the ip addresses where you are and block you accordingly.

And the iTMS does do this. You can't get a US account because you are a US citizen. You can get one if you have a US address (or just make one up and tie it to gift cards).

You, LouZer, are one dim bulb. First, since damn near everything on your iPod touch/iPhone is tethered to an iTunes account, if that account is US-based, then there is as much of a chance of allowing viewable content outside the US as not. Mine was open-ended wondering... and a bit of hopefulness.

Secondly, I know darn well I don't have a US iTunes account because I'm a citizen. I'm not 12, for crying out loud. But I know that a US-based account opens all sorts of doors for those abroad, and speaking from lots of experience, it is damn hard to get an account from banks outside your country of citizenship. So there is a correlation.

Anyway, I've said my peace. Don't bother replying. I won't check here again.

T-Mobile is already blocking and AT&T will begin blocking this June when their data transfer policies change. Hulu, Joost, et al will then be limited by the amount of data transfer allowable per account. Exceed that amount and you'll pay heavily and that will kill off Hulu, Skype, etc.
