Truphone 3.0 released

Truphone has released v3.0 of its self-titled iPhone application, which provides VoIP calling as an alternative to eating into limited cellphone minutes. Calls to users of Truphone, Skype and Google Talk are free over Wi-Fi, though rates begin to apply when calling landlines and regular cellphone numbers. Use over cellular data is also possible.

The software also supports instant messaging through services such as AIM, MSN and Yahoo. New within v3.0 is the use of a single page for managing IM conversations, eliminating the need to switch apps or even windows. Account management is said to be simpler overall, and the company has additionally upgrade voice quality, as well as app speed. Truphone is a free download from the App Store.
