Bowls, Spreadsheet


  • React ($1) is a game for the iPhone and iPod touch that tests a players reaction time. The game presents players with series of tasks, one at a time, that they must accurately complete within a time limit. The tasks are based on some standard iPhone gestures including tapping, pinching, shaking and sliding.

  • iStoryTime - The Brave Monkey Pirate ($2) is an illustrated and animated story that features automatic navigation and narration. The pages of the story can be turned either automatically or manually and users may choose between an adult, child or no narrator. There are currently three different stories available in the App Store and this one is about a monkey pirate who has to go to the hospital and get a shot, but finds something magical that helps him become brave.

  • WDWTrip.com: WDW Today ($4) is a tool for planning vacation days at the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida. Users have access to the operating hours of the four major theme parks and two water parks along with information on the Extra Magic Hours available to guests staying at one of the Disney hotels. The day view shows a list of events happening in each of the parks and also can provide information on which parks are going to be the busiest on a given day.

  • Bowls ($2) allows users to make music by spinning their finger around the edge of various bowls. The application includes seven different bowls all of which include sound files thats have been recorded from authentic Tibetan singing bowls. There are also various other sounds that can be added including gongs, bells and cymbals.

  • Spreadsheet ($8) allows for the creation of spreadsheets on the iPhone. The application uses a standard grid, where users can add text, numeric, date, formula or function data into cells. Spreadsheet also includes both landscape and portrait orientations, cell merging, multiple worksheet support, cell formating and the ability to import and export Excel spreadsheets.

      WDW Today is really great

      I was en route to Walt Disney World this afternoon to meet some old friends for a reunion when I saw this article! I bought WDW Today on a whim because I was all fired up for some Disney R&R and figured it was only a couple of bucks so I didn't really care if it was lousy.

      I have to say I am totally impressed! The first screen that comes up basically shows you everything you need to know about schedules for the day. It has the hours for all of the parks and you can click once to see the parade and fireworks times. It is way easier to use than the stuff they hand out and show on signs at the parks.

      I am not sure exactly how they decide which parks are best to go to and which to avoid but since you have to decide somehow, I figure I'll give it a try. The article says it is based on how busy the parks are but the app doesn't exactly say that. Maybe iPodNN has talked to the developer and I guess that makes sense.

      I hate to sound like an ad but if you are planning to go to Disney you really should pick this up! Tickets to get into the parks are like a million dollars a day and this app really does save time so I figure it is well worth a couple of bucks.

      I guess I missed that it does say in the description on iTunes that the park recommendations are based on how busy the parks will be. Sorry!

      Crowds are the big downside at Walt Disney World so that makes sense to me!

      iStorytime App

      I saw this article and purchased 1 of the 3 stories that are availble. I'm very impressed with the simple interface and the cool narration. My kid has been reading the story over and over - so needless to say, I'll be buying th other 2.
