iPod touch gains OS share

Shortly after Apple surpassed 1 billion App Store downloads, research by Net Applications suggests the iPod touch has significantly outpaced the iPhone in growth of overall browsing usage. From November 2008 to April 2009 the Touch showed a 300-percent increase, rising from .05-percent to .15-percent of overall usage. Through the same period, iPhone share increased by 49-percent and accounted for .55-percent of overall usage.

While Apple's mobile devices continued to ascend the ranks, the Mac operating system saw a ten percent increase from November, while Windows numbers fell by approximately two percent. The iPhone now establishes the fourth spot, right behind Linux, while Android, Symbian and Windows Mobile systems are listed in the bottom of the top ten.

Although Apple experienced a decline in Mac sales during the quarter ending in March, the iPod touch showed particularly strong performance with sales that more than doubled year-over-year. "The sum of iPhone plus iPod touch is now about 37 million units," said COO Tim Cook. The company also shipped 3.79 million iPhones in the same period, surpassing most analyst estimates.

    300% ???

Who is responsible for the math department at macnn? Going from 0.05% to 0.015% would require a 200% increase. Not 300%.

common mistake. You're right. If you triple something it's a 200% increase just like doubling something is a 100% increase.
