Dropzone beta utility

Developer Aptonic says it is preparing Dropzone, a new utility for Mac OS X. The app extends the functions of the Dock, allowing users to drag objects to a single icon in order to accomplish one of several tasks. Users can for instance choose to install software, or move a file to the Downloads folder. Various files can be attached to e-mail or sent to an FTP server, while images specifically can be uploaded to Flickr or Skitch.

Text fragments dragged to the program's icon can either be shared or saved. Developers can integrate more applications into Dropzone using an API; the utility is only expected to launch later this month however, and the public must apply via e-mail to enter the upcoming beta test. No pricing schemes have been mentioned.
