Griffin launches new gear

Griffin Technology has released two new products for powering iPhones and iPods, the PowerBlock Reserve and the PowerJolt Reserve. The two products are available as a bundle as well. Each device uses the same power unit, the Griffin Reserve Battery Pack, which can be swapped between the two products. Any USB-rechargeable product is supported, including the iPhone and numerous iPods.

The PowerBlock Reserve works as an AC-charger for home use, refueling its removable battery while simultaneously feeding a USB port for directly charging a connected device. The removable battery is outfitted with a direct-to-dock connection for iPhones or iPods.

The PowerJolt Reserve works with 12V DC power for vehicles, which sustains the USB output and internal battery recharging. Users who want a home and car combination can purchase the bundle. Griffin plans to sell the Reserve Battery Packs as a standalone item soon, allowing users to charge multiple batteries for later use.

Each Reserve Battery Pack has a lighted meter indicating reserve power. The packs work with the iPhone, iPod touch, Classic, Video and Photo, among others. The batteries work with the iPod touch and Nano, but block the headphone jack when in use.

Both the PowerBlock Reserve and PowerJolt Reserve carry a price of $40. The bundle, called the PowerDuo Reserve, combines the two for $60 and saves $20 vs. separate purchases.
