FreeBit ServersMan

Japanese developer FreeBit has released an English version of ServersMan, a free application which converts iPhones and iPod touches into web servers. The software operates over both 3G and Wi-Fi connections, and allows people to connect via WebDAV or a regular web browser. Files hosted on a server can be accessed remotely, but are protected using SSL encryption.

HTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML are natively supported, and a file viewer lets users browse PDF, Office and iWork documents. Recently added is support for audio recording and playback; FreeBit says it has already submitted ServersMan 2.0b to Apple for approval, which should allow for the parallel exchange of multiple files. A development kit is meanwhile expected to launch sometime this summer, along with other unspecified tools.
