App Store rejects app

The third version of Hot Dog Down A Hallway, Metaversal Studios' only iPhone app, has been rejected by the App Store. Apple cites "explicit content" as the reason for its decision. Metaversal Studios is unconvinced by the label, as the game, despite its suggestive name, has previously been given a low age rating of nine and up by the App Store. The developer's Interactive Director, Dave Laundry, believes the "iTunes censorship policy is a mystery."

Others have voiced the same criticism of Apple's review process, including Trent Renzor of Nine Inch Nails after the band's app was declined following similar accusations. The NIN app was reevaluated and later approved. Metaversal Studios is hoping the same will happen to their app.

A Baby Shaker app, in which players shake their iPhone to end the sound of a child crying, stirred similar controversy. Apple initially approved the app, although the game was quickly pulled and the company publicly apologized for the mistake.

Hot Dog Down A Hallway v1.1 is still available from the App Store for $1, but will likely be removed.

    Makes one wonder

What's worse? The pubescent nature of so many app developers, or Apple's random policies.

    Here's an idea:

Instead of crying to the media when your app is rejected, why don't you just contact your developer rep at Apple and have it re-reviewed.

It's clear that Apple's reviewers don't have time (or talent) to thoroughly review the app, so talking to them will fix your issue (assuming there isn't actually explicit material in the app).
