iPhone apps: Numbrix, Lion's Play, Ghost Camera

  • Numbrix ($5) is a puzzle game where players must fill a grid so that there is a path of numbers from 1 to 81. The game includes 100 different puzzles and additional ones can be downloaded from the internet. Each puzzle starts out with a couple of numbers filled in and players must then create a path of numbers that moves vertically and horizontally from 1 to 81. The game is timed and a users 10 best times for each puzzle are placed on a local leaderboard.

  • Lion's Play ($1) is a strategy game that is based on the famous Indian game Puli Judham, or Gamble of Tigers. The game consists of two players, the lions and the buffaloes. The goal for the lions is to eat all of the buffaloes, and the buffaloes are looking to escape. The game is played on a board that consists of a triangular formation with two crossed rectangles. Players move their respective chips around the board and try and restrict the movement of their opponents chips. The game includes three different levels of difficult and 18 additional game boards made up of different geometric shapes.

  • GhostCamera ($1) allows users to add ghosts to the photos they take. The application includes 11 different styles of ghosts to choose from and are automatically added to the right side of the photo after it is taken. The developers are currently working on additional ghosts that will be added as options in future releases.

  • StoneLoops! of Jurassica ($1) is an arcade styled game where players have to eliminate groups of colored stones before they reach the end of a path. The player can shoot additional stones into the moving group and if they create large enough pairings of one color the stones disappear. The game includes 75 different levels, two modes of play, and several different power-ups.

  • Countdown Calendar ($3) can be used to set up a countdown calendar for any important date. It can be used to count days, weeks, months or years and can also count up from dates in the past. The application also provides access to a database of countdowns for things like movie release dates, sporting events and important dates in Apple history.
