Wireless iTunes video prep

Apple has confirmed intentions to allow direct purchase of iTunes videos from an iPhone, sources close to the company's training programs say. Originally a blogger is said to have discovered the option's existence by accident, though users of the iPhone 3.0 beta can now gain a glimpse through a custom link. Graphics and downloads in the early browser are currently broken.

The alleged confirmation comes by way of self-guided training packages, sent to AppleCare agents. Each kit details planned features of the iPhone 3.0 firmware, among these being direct iTunes video purchases. Traditionally iPhones and iPod touches have only been able to sync the material, after having connected to a Mac or PC.

The timing of the kits is thought to be some of the earliest Apple has yet dared. "Apple never puts out product training this far ahead of a product launch," one of the sources comments. Together the sources agree that the instructions are approximately six weeks early. Not mentioned in them however are connection options, which may be unlikely to include 3G. At present, even audio downloads over 3G are limited to 10MB.

Any announcement for iTunes video is likely to happen at Apple's next major press event, the WWDC keynote on June 8th.

    sad

it's sad that these networks have such terrible bottlenecks for data and we are left with cripple devices that are capable of so much more. Hopefully one of the big networks decides to put a ton of cash into a REALLY significant upgrade, causing a ripple effect of all the networks responding with big upgrades. I wonder of the LTE upgrade will provide this so Apple won't have to continue crippling their services.
