iHome iConnect and iStand

Having developed almost exclusively audio equipment, iHome today revealed that it's stepping into computer peripherals through a deal with LifeWorks. The iConnect keyboard has a built-in dock for iPhones and iPods to charge and sync them without a separate peripheral. Touch-sensitive media keys not only include the standard pause and skip controls for the computer itself but also a shuffle feature for apps like iTunes.

For expansion, the iConnect gets two extra USB ports that swivel to fit devices with unusual connectors or cables. Versions are available for Macs and Windows PCs, with Macs getting extra features that support launching not just iTunes but also Front Row, iCal, iChat, Mail and Safari. Either version of the iConnect will cost $150 when available in the summer.

The iStand in turn serves as a home for both a notebook and its companion iPhone or iPod with an integrated dock and a basic stereo speaker system to play music. It has its own AC power to charge the handheld device when the notebook isn't around and affords an extra two USB ports. All versions work with both Macs and Windows PCs. Stand-alone pricing isn't yet listed for the summer release, but a bundle with a keyboard and mouse costs $300. [via Crave]

Um. Why would you want to dock your iPod with a keyboard though? I got a cable with my iPod that lets it connect to any USB port. That's no less "easy" than that lame keyboard.

You'd be better off getting a Kinesis Advantage keyboard for less, and a Kinesis keyboard will be more comfortable and not so awkward for anyone that uses the mouse on the left side.

For a second, I thought this was going to be a keyboard FOR the iPhone, so you could use it to type out long emails and such. BOOORING!
