WolframAlpha web app

Mathematics specialist Wolfram has launched a iPhone-formatted version of the WolframAlpha website. Identified as a "computational knowledge engine," the site lets users input simple or complex equations, or a variety of data-related queries, such as mortality rates or the distance to the next closest star. Where appropriate answers are accompanied by graphics, such as maps or charts.

The iPhone edition of WolframAlpha has been optimized for the standard size and formatting of Apple handhelds. All functions are available, including an overview video and a gallery of sample uses. Graphics are also presented, but may require zooming in to view properly. Wolfram is asking for feedback to help improve mobile browsing.

I'm sorry, "web app"? You mean "web site", right? I saw the word "app" and was getting ready to download something from the iTunes Store...

It's an application that runs of the web.

This is how all iPhone apps were before Apple released the SDK to allow for native apps.
