iPhone apps: Zensify, Pocket Fish, Pocket First Aid

Postman, Word Tower


  • Zensify (free) collects information from all of a users social networks into a single feed. The application features options for posting and viewing information from popular social networking sites, including, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Digg, Delicious, Photobucket and 12seconds. Zensify also includes a built-in search function which allows users to keep track of conversations and topics across multiple networks.

  • Pocket Fish ($1) allows users to keep a pet fish within their iPhone or iPod touch. The application includes four different fish to choose from and allows users to teach them different tricks. Users can interact with the fish by tapping and dragging their finger on the screen. The viewing angle and time of day can also be changed from the top menu.

  • Pocket First Aid & CPR ($4) includes information on what to do in different emergency situations. Hundreds of illustrated pages are included which cover topics including choking, bites, burns, CPR, and more. The software also includes video tutorials, all of which are stored within the app allowing users to access the information without an internet connection.

  • Postman ($1) can be used to create postcards on an iPhone or iPod touch. Users can import their own photos and add a personal greeting. Personalized messages can also be added to the back of the cards or add a map showing their current location. The postcards can then be shared through Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and more. The recent 2.0 update includes a streamlined interface and 10 free theme packs. The update also includes a new shake to wipe feature and the option to tap and drag text to reposition it.

  • Word Tower ($1) is a game where players need to make words out of stacks of letters. Letter blocks constantly fall from the top of the screen and players must then position them in words to eliminate them. The game includes five different modes running from starter up to genius. Word Tower also includes a high score table allowing players to compare their best scores with others around the world.

      For first aid and emerency preparedness information, I would recommend the apps available from RediVideos at http://www.redivideos.com. These apps feature full video instructions demonstrating first aid techniques and emergency medical procedures.
