Google location search
Google has introduced location-based searches to the iPhone version of its website. The option is currently only available in the US and the UK, but lets users prioritize results by proximity, instead of just popularity. Common to the desktop website, the feature was previously disabled on iPhones for reasons including privacy.
In order to preserve privacy, Google has rendered location detection optional. The feature is instead enabled by tapping "Search with My Location" on the Google homepage, and then tapping "update" whenever location has changed radically enough to warrant new results. Google is promising more region and language options in the future.
