Apple Q3 breakdown
In tandem with a public statement, Apple has published a complete table of its Q3 results, which reveal individual details about Apple's revenues. Among these is an 8 percent drop in Mac revenue year-over-year, led by an 18 percent fall in desktop revenue, but compounded by a 2 percent drop in notebooks. Total Mac revenue was $3.329 billion, as compared to $3.610 billion in Q308.
iPod revenue slipped 11 percent to $1.492 billion, down from $1.678 billion. By contrast iPhone revenue grew 303 percent to $1.689 billion, based on a 626 percent leap in units; the figure is somewhat skewed however, as the iPhone 3G did not launch until July of last year. The latest quarter-to-quarter iPhone revenue growth was only 11 percent.
Breaking products down further, Apple observes that "other music related products and services" (including the iTunes Store) generated $958 million, a 17 percent increase over Q308. Peripherals dropped 22 percent to $341 million, while software and service revenues stepped up 5 percent, to $528 million.
Global retail revenues are noted to have inched up 4 percent, to $1.496 billion. Total revenue for the Americas has risen 11 percent to $3.827 billion, while European figures are up 22 percent, to $2.006 billion. Japan has advanced 14 percent to $416 million.
