Guinness World Records and Warner Brothers Digital Distribution has announced that the player with the most points achieved in the new Guinness World Records app "Video Game Score" challenge will be awarded a Guinness World Record. The winner will also be added to the shortlist to be included in the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition. Users must be registered with GameSpy in order to remotely submit their scores in the competition.
iPhoneAppQuotes' analysis shows new trends in iPhone development, with a focus on medical, business and book apps. The developer network is also reporting that there has been a 30 percent increase in new members over the past three months, during which time the number of available titles on the iTunes App Store has increased to 65,000.
Star Walk ($5) is a realistic stargazing guide for the iPhone and iPod touch. The application helps users recognize objects in the night sky by locating them on an interactive star map. After selecting a specific item users can then view additional facts, such as celestial coordinates. Star Walk also features a "time machine" that lets users see expected skies from the past or future. The latest update also features a new Star Spotter function which uses the digital compass in the iPhone 3GS to display a live representation of the sky.
Onkyo has recently announced the upcoming release of two 7.1-channel home theater systems with advanced audio processing, including support for all current audio formats, including the vertical dimensions added by ProLogic IIz. The HT-S7200 and HT-S6200 surround sound systems are rated at the same 130 watts per channel, with a speaker system that includes an active 230W subwoofer. Onkyo's U-Port iPod dock is included with each system.
Apple has at last released the MobileMe iDisk app for the iPhone. First promised in June, the software lets MobileMe users view files stored in their online iDisk folders. Users tap a file to load it, or a nearby Share icon to compose an e-mail with a download link.
Users should soon be able to more accurately search for titles at the App Store, a new report claims. Sources in the article say that, when submitting apps through iTunes Connect, developers are now being asked to enter up to 255 characters' worth of keywords. "It is important to enter keywords for all applications as soon as possible so your application can continue to be successfully located on the App Store," a statement from Apple warns about existing titles.
