Klipsch Image S2m

Klipsch has unveiled its second set of phone-oriented earbuds in a week with the launch of the Image S2m. A lower-end counterpart to the S4i, the new pair takes the entry, lower-powered S2 and adds a universal in-line mic and remote. The controls are optimized for Apple devices and fully support all 2008 and later iPhones and iPods, including the third-generation iPod shuffle, but should work with many phones that recognize basic remote controls.

The microphone is equally universal, and on iPhones and iPod touch units behaves the same as Apple's own. Klipsch claims the S2m is better at picking up voice without having to speak directly at it.

As with other Image earbuds, the new models have oval eartips that Klipsch maintains fit much more comfortably in ears than the circle-shaped in-ears offered by most others. The audio quality difference helps bring the price down to $60 for the S2m's expected release in August.
