iPhone apps: Peephole, CAVU, Buggle

  • Peephole ($2) is a Twitter client with a special focus on image postings. The application allows users to view images that have recently been uploaded to popular Twitter photo sharing services. Images are collected from Twitpic, yfrog, and Twitgoo and can be displayed in either a thumbnail or full screen mode. Users are able to choose to view images attached to trending topics, images from the public timeline, images from friends, and more.

  • CAVU video surveillance ($20) can be used to access video streams of live security cameras. Live video streams are presented in a grid view and allows users to focus on one feed by tapping on it. When watching a single feed users can drag their finger on the screen to steer the camera or double tap to bring up earlier recordings from the same camera.

  • Buggle ($1) is a game where players must try to match up groups of three matching bugs. The colored bugs are presented on a spider web, slowly moving towards the center, but if three are matched together they fly free of the web. When enough bugs have been freed players move on to the next level. Buggle also includes five different unlockable super powers, ten achievements, a top score board, and more.

  • Space Invaders Infinity Gene ($5) brings the classic arcade game to the iPhone. The game begins using the original level and sounds but as players progress the game begins to change. New stages can be unlocked and enemies break free of the standard lock-step formation. New enemies are also introduced, some which are so large that they can't fit on the screen. Players also gain new advancements as the game moves along, including the ability to break free from side-to-side movement.

  • Cartoonist ($1) can be used to add cartoon and artistic effects to an image. Users can import photos from their devices library or a take a new one with the camera. Imported images can be cropped, zoomed, or moved before editing. The cartoon effect is then created by applying customizable stroke lines, color effects, and more.
