Rumored September event likely to omit tablet

No tablet at Sept. event?

Apple should indeed be holding a publicity event in September, but it will not highlight the company's rumored tablet computer, "very reliable" sources are said to claim. Some media reports have pointed to a September announcement for the device, typically described as having a 10-inch touchscreen, an iPhone-like design and a built-in 3G connection. It may also be subsidized by Verizon Wireless.

The September event is instead predicted to concentrate exclusively on music, as has been standard for several years. It may thus feature new iPods, and updates to iTunes, such as iTunes 9. The tablet will in fact receive no mention at all during the event, the sources say, and arrive only in the first half of 2010. If accurate, the claim reinforces the views of several analysts.

    Verizon sucks

If Verizon has their fingers into it, I don't want one. If they can't keep from crippling it, they'll still nickel & dime you to death at every opportunity.

    Why is this news?

No tablet in September, for an event that has always been music based? Surprise! I am always surprised at the gullibility of those lapping up unlikely rumors.

Apple's netbook answer (most likely titled 'MacBook') will be introduced in its own event, AFTER iPhone OS 3.1 and Snow Leopard are released.

Apple wants an unencumbered Holiday sales quarter, where consumers can concentrate on a simple product matrix - then provide us with a new product to spend our money after January.

It doesn't take rocket science to figure this out.
