Nintendo DS simulator gets pulled from App Store

DS DoubleSys dead
A popular iPhone app based on the Nintendo DS handheld has been pulled from the App Store, investigation reveals. The app, DS DoubleSys, does not allow users to play DS games; it instead simulates the interface of the DS, including a number of menus and sound effects. Two original games, including a rhythm title, can nevertheless be played from within DoubleSys.
The app has been a commercially successful, ranking high in several regions including the US, where it was once classified as the eighth most popular paid music game and the 72nd most popular arcade title.
The app's developer, ZM2 Dev, has not officially acknowledged any removal, but DoubleSys can no longer be found at the App Store either through searches or direct links. It is believed to have been pulled as a result of copyright claims by Nintendo, given that a promotional YouTube video has disappeared as result of claims from Nintendo of America. Apple has taken a strict approach to copyright in recent weeks, for instance hunting down infringing e-book material, and banning developers producing mass numbers of infringing apps.
