PocketDock Line Out Mini USB adapter links to iPods

PocketDock Line Out USB


SendStation Systems has introduced its Mini USB-to-iPod adapter, the PocketDock Line Out Mini USB. The product is a new addition to the PocketDock line of adapters and is used to sync, charge and play an iPod or iPhone using the same cables or chargers compatible with GPSs, digital cameras and other devices. The adapter additionally features a 1/8 inch Line Out jack for audio playback and weighs four grams.

The product is available in Black and utilizes the same 30-pin dock connector common with other iPod and iPhone cables. The PocketDock Line Out Mini USB can be purchased from the SendStation Systems online store for $30.

    Huh?

    What use is this? Audio out on the bottom? That's a step backwards for an iPhone no? Sure would like to see an aftermarket wall charger for cheap though.

    Line Out=Superior

    Audio from the bottom of an iPod/iPhone is of a superior quality than the audio from the headphone jack.

    The headphone jack audio comes from a VERY small amplifier which has a high rate of distortion (acceptable considering it's size).
    This distortion will then be amplified by whatever audio output you plug it into (ie. car, home, etc...)

    The Line Out audio bypasses the built in amplifier and only passes the audio (0 watts). This audio will not power headphones but will be of a better quality when amplified (ie. car, home, etc...)
