GTA: Chinatown for iPhone
Developer Rockstar is bringing two of its games to the iPhone and iPod touch this fall, an announcement reveals. The first is Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, a port of the recent Nintendo DS title. Players assume the role of Huang Lee, a Triads gang member who travels to Liberty City after his father's suspicious death.
Gameplay resembles the first two GTA titles, with players driving, shooting and running using a top-down perspective. Chinatown Wars adds a series of mini-games however, and places an increased emphasis on storytelling through 2D panel art. Pricing and iPhone- or iPod-specific features have yet to be announced.
The other title is Beaterator, which lets players create their own music using samples created by Rockstar, and famous rap/hip-hop producer Timbaland. The game is claimed to contain "thousands" of loops and other sounds, as well as a simple interface. Song templates are provided, and gamers can also insert their own vocal recordings. Pricing has not been made public.
