Video playback paired with traditional appearance

Vuzix has announced the Wrap 310, its latest video eyewear device. The Wrap series integrates many of the same capabilities as the company's visor-style displays, but pairs the technology with the look of traditional sunglasses. The device also offers an improved user interface, along with independent focus adjustments and a choice between several lens colors.

The 310 series video eyewear features dual LCDs with support for either 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios. The company claims the eyewear replicates watching a 55-inch screen from nine feet away. Compatible devices include iPods, iPhones, portable DVD or Blu-ray players, televisions or computers.

Wearers can listen to audio using included noise-isolating earphones, which are also removable when audio is not needed or another pair of earphones is preferred. Two AA-size batteries are claimed to power the displays for up to 6 hours, while users can attach sources via Component, VGA, or iPod dock connections.

Pricing and launch information for the Wrap 310 have yet to be announced.
