EyeTV app for iPhone handles live TV, recordings

Tied to desktop software

Elgato has released an EyeTV app for the iPhone, which serves as an extension to the company's desktop software. Users can watch both live and recorded TV, though due to bandwidth and carrier restrictions, live TV can only be streamed over Wi-Fi. While connected to a Wi-Fi network, the app can also exploit Bonjour to discover local Macs running EyeTV.

Outside of viewing the app is capable of remotely changing channels, browsing program guides, or scheduling a Mac's recording functions. It costs $5 in the US App Store, and requires iPhone 3.0 firmware as well as a Mac with EyeTV 3.2 and a TV tuner. UPnP- and NAT-PMP-compatible routers are supported; Macs must have a Core 2 Duo processor in order to serve live TV.

Awesome! It's about time. I was about to switch Equinux TubeStick, but now I will stick with EyeTV. Thank you!
