iHome unveils iP88 two-dock iPhone radio

Catering to couples or multi-device owners, iHome this morning said it has started shipping the iP88. The clock radio is the company's first to have two Dock Connectors and can take audio from two iPhones or iPods (one at a time) in addition to charging both. It also more fully exploits the Apple hardware and can wake to a playlist on one of the devices orsync time with an iPhone's clock.

The set-top is touted as having better audio quality than usual with optimized speaker chambers and simulated 3D sound. As a radio, the iP88 has up to eight AM or FM presets as well as a gradual wake/sleep option and an aux-in jack for non-Apple devices. It should be on sale now for $150.

dual-deck cassette radios

This reminds me when dual-deck Cassette radios started becoming mainstream, and you could record to one deck while playing from the other. I had a purple one - it was my first serious electronics Christmas present. I remember my mother going all over NYC with me to find just the right combination of features that we could afford and had slow-release eject :)
Somewhere this Christmas a young kid is going to be giddy with joy when his mom brings this home for him.
