Debugs iPhone graphic engines

Graphic Remedy says it has released the completed version of gDEBugger iPhone, its latest development tool. The software debugs OpenGL ES-based graphics engines intended for iPhone apps; programmers can thus work on improving rendering speed, as well as reducing memory footprints. gDEBugger operates on top of the Apple iPhone Simulator and supports iPhone 2.2.1, 3.0 and 3.1 SDKs, as well as both OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0.

While picking through engines users can edit and continue GLESSL shaders, and identify issues such as memory leaks, redundant state changes and unnecessary function calls. Buffers and texture objects can be viewed either in image form or as pure data; working state variables can be compared against ES defaults. The program requires an Intel Mac with Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and currently costs $550 in a single node-locked license, or $1,750 under a floating arrangement. Discounts take effect in bulk orders.
