Limitations persist

Coder George Hotz has released blackra1n, a new jailbreaking tool. The software is said to jailbreak "all" devices capable of running Apple's iPhone 3.1.2 firmware, including the iPod touch. It is also claimed to be quick, cracking the firmware open for unsanctioned access and applications in approximately 30 seconds.

Several limitations exist on the tool, such as exclusive support for Windows computers. Hotz also warns iPhone 3G and 3GS users that they cannot use iTunes to upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 and still retain a carrier unlock; iTunes upgrades the devices' baseband code, a process which cannot be undone. The only workaround in this regard is said to come from the unofficial iPhone Dev Team.

I wish these articles would speak in non-geeklish

Just tell us how to use this, or if we cannot, if we have a jailbroken 3g/s...that's what we want to know.
