Notebooks buoy Apple computer sales
As a part of its fourth-quarter financial results, Apple has also produced detailed segment information. Revenue in the Americas is up 20 percent year-over-year, and now sits at $4.297 billion. European revenue has jumped a substantial 45 percent to $2.491 billion, while Japan has grown 36 percent to reach $434 million. Worldwide retail revenues are up 9 percent to $1.867 billion.
Some negative developments for Apple have emerged in the Mac and iPod realms. While Mac revenues have risen 9 percent to hit $3.952 billion, the company has also suffered a 20 percent decline in the money generated by desktops, for a total of $1.086 billion. Compensating is a 27 percent climb in notebook revenues to $2.866 billion.
iPod revenue is down 6 percent to $1.563 billion, reflecting an 8 percent slide in units. iPhone revenues are conversely up a dramatic 185 percent to $2.297 billion, though that figure also incorporates related products and services. Miscellaneous hardware (including peripheral) sales have slipped 8 percent to $393 million, but have been counterbalanced by software-related revenue, up 18 percent to $647 million.

What negatives?

I certainly don't see reduced iPod sales as a negative when the iPhone is generally replacing it as the preferred digital music player. Seems like common sense to me. As for the slowdown in desktop sales it seems like this is common sense as well. Laptops rule the market these days.
But one thing is for sure. The Apple haters will seize on this as proof their theories of Apple's imminent demise are coming to pass. Oh, and the stock will tank as well.

LOL I bought even more AAPL at $105 and $130. Wish I could have borrowed against anything and everything to buy at those prices!
