Regen intros ReNu modular solar charger
Regen recently introduced its ReNu modular solar panel. The device will charge its built-in battery using the sun and in turn power a number of optional bases. ReNu's panel plugs into a speaker dock for docking iPods and iPhones, or iPod charging base and an LED desk lamp add-on. If sunlight is at a premium, users can also plug it into a conventional wall socket for power.
The iPod dock has a USB port that will let users sync the iPod or iPhone with their PCs. An integrated lithium ion battery is said to have the capacity to fully charge an iPhone or iPod twice. In direct outdoor sunlight, the battery takes nine hours to charge, or 20 hours when placed indoors in direct sunlight.
The ReNu is scheduled for a February shipment, priced at $199. A separately sold Sound Dock will cost $150, the LED light and iPod dock on its own $89 each, with all due in February. A combo of the iPod dock and ReNu panel costs $249. [via DVICE]
