Cases combine silicone, polycarbonate layers

RadTech has released the OtterBox Commuter Series, a new multi-layer iPhone hardcase. The inner layer is silicone for soft-surface protection from scratches and impacts, while the outer layer is hard polycarbonate for impact protection. The new cases also come with a transparent film cover for the iPhone screen. The ports are all available, with extra protection for the audio jack and 30-pin protector when not in use.

The hard shell allows for easy insertion and retrieval from pockets, while the exposed silicone side panels add to the gripability of the case. The TL standard version is available in seven colors including blue, green, yellow, red, purple black and white. It costs $30.

The more expensive Commuter model adds polycarbonate siding in the gripping areas of the iPhone. It is available in black only and costs $35.
