Sanyo Stick Booster charger uses AA batteries
Sanyo on Wednesday revealed its new Eneloop Stick Booster. The device is a battery pack that can plug into consumer electronics devices with miniUSB or USB ports such as cellphones, portable gaming consoles and MP3 players. What makes this different from other dry-cell chargers is that, thanks to Sanyo's Eneloop batteries, it can charge devices that require a high current for charging, such as an iPhone.
The charger's aluminum body can house two AA-sized Eneloop batteries, which are included, and has a slide switch to turn the power output on or off. The Booster will cost the equivalent of $34 in Japan when it launches on December 1st. Sanyo regularly exports Eneloop devices but hasn't detailed its international plans. I like their rechargeable batteries. This seems just as neat. Will get one.

I found something similar on Amazon a few months ago. The one I got is big enough to hold 4 AA batteries (rechargables), but it can also work with two. It's not as svelte as that, but I bet 4 batteries charge better than 2. So while that product looks cool (even if it does resemble a USB-powered vibrator--yes they exist and yes they look like that), I don't see how it's a first.
