Telescope provides 8X zoom

USBfever has released two new products in its line of iPhone and iPod accessories, the 8X Telescope with Hard Case and the Smart Stand. The telescope is designed for the iPhone 3G and 3GS, and attaches via the case, offering 8X optical zoom when capturing images. A focus ring is mounted on the lens, and an included stand can be attached for stability.

The Smart Stand supports iPhones, iPods and other mobile devices, and features two blades and an adjustable stand, letting users "stick" an electronic device in a variety of angles. The blades are water-washable, and help hold devices in place while providing some shock absorption. Both products can be found on the USBfever website. The telescope is priced at $30, and the stand is $13.

    Why?

Why would anyone even bother with this? Seems like a complete waste to me, especially when you can buy a camera with three times the resolution at half the price of an iPhone anyway.

    Re: Why

I don't know. Maybe so you don't have to be carrying around another piece of electronics. Isn't that why everyone loves the iPhone. Convergence?
