Allegedly marks new App Store policy
Rogue Amoeba says it has released v1.0.2 of Airfoil Speakers Touch, a companion app for the company's Airfoil desktop client. The former streams various forms of Mac audio to handhelds. The update makes only one change, which is to restore images of Apple hardware and software to in-app displays.
The development of the previous version, v1.0.1, resulted in Rogue Amoeba abandoning iPhone projects outside of minor patches. The app was rejected three times by Apple, all as a result of linking to images in Mac OS X which were meant to be used by other software makers. The v1.0.2 approval is attributed to a change in Apple policy, adopting a less strict approach to trademarks. Amoeba in fact claims to have been told that its public complaints were responsible.
The company nevertheless says it will continue to avoid the iPhone, citing problems like long waits for approval. Some apps may never be approved even after extended delays, Amoeba charges.
