Connects peripherals, portable electronics

Targus has announced a new product in its line of notebook gear, the USB 2.0 Docking Station with Video. The dock supports a range of devices, from mobile phones to peripherals including mice, keyboards and printers. Features include two USB ports capable of powering devices, and a DVI output that supports a maximum resolution of 2048x1152.

The dock also allows users to rest their notebook on it for improved airflow and comfort. An Ethernet port supplies wired network access, while two 3.5mm audio ports are designed for speakers, headphones or microphones. The dock is being sold through the Targus website for $160.

    Video

Note that video is done over USB, so while it may only require one cable, you're hindering yourself on the video side. And all other functions (like networking) are also done over USB.

And it isn't a dock, per se, since docks are items you would connect directly to your computer. This still requires you to plug in a cable.
