Audio-Technica outs new QuietPoint headphones
Audio-Technica on Tuesday revealed its new ATH-ANC1 QuietPoint active noise-cancelling on-ear headphones. The headphones use the company's active noise-cancelling technology to block out 85 percent of ambient noise and produce clear sound. For less weight on the user's head, the noise-canceling technology is on an external module inline with the signal cord.
Each driver is just over 1.4 inches (36mm) in diameter, and the headphones deliver a 105dB sensitivity along with a 10-20,000Hz frequency response. The Quietpoint noise reduction can reduce noise by 18dB, even when users aren’t listening to music.
The headphones fold and can be stored in the included carrying pouch. They will continue to provide audio even without a battery, though will not perform noise-cancelling duties.
The ATH-ANC1 headphones include a 1.6-foot extension cord, an airline adapter and an AAA battery. Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC1 headphones ship in January and will carry a $130 price tag.
