Microsoft releases Bing app for iPhone

Offers voice search functions
Microsoft on Tuesday released its first official Bing app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Until now, Bing has only been offered as an integrated search function in third-party apps. Microsoft earlier this year released an SDK to help developers with the necessary APIs. The new app is the first to offer a dedicated interface.
Bing for the iPhone includes map, movie and image search functions, as well as voice commands, which like Google Mobile launch a search based on a spoken sentence or address. Some navigation support is built into the app, giving users a choice between driving and walking directions.
Search results can be narrowed by category, such as news or specific services like banks or restaurants. A homepage displays a new image each day from Bing.com, with hotspots that contain related trivia. The Bing app is a free download from the App Store.

I really like the maps implementation. The zoom in/out is fantastic. much better than google maps.
Also the images search is fantastic!!!

Microsoft just couldn't ignore this low-hanging fruit for the iPhone. It's a bit ridiculous for them to be so obtuse to the iPhone platform when there's opportunity to sell software for it like Office, remote desktop, WMV player, etc.
I've got no problem with Microsoft solutions being on my iPhone as long as they work to the level as their WinMobile counterparts...but that might be a bit more than Redmond is capable of allowing!

It may also be a bit more than what Apple is capable of allowing, too.

and it is not too shabby. I really like the image search. It is kind of slow at times but this is a new app and should get better with time. only time will tell.
btw, MS is not so bad as it is made out to be. you don't become big without putting in effort and they do a lot of work on the enterprise arena.
i know this post is a flame bait but i am leaving it to your judgement.
